Sponsors of the Construction Career Awareness Fair

Connections2Careers announces the following sponsors of the Construction Career Awareness Fair:

Based out of Troy, Michigan and serving industries internationally, Superior Electric Great Lakes Company (SEGLC) is a designer, provider and installer of turnkey and cost-effective electrical solutions. SEGLC is powered by a competitive advantage of providing the best net project value and offering full transparency in our process.

The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights represents 14,000 carpenters and millwrights across the state of Michigan. Their member carpenters help build diverse projects, large and small, residential and commercial. Union millwrights work with precision machinery, installing and maintaining everything from conveyor systems to turbines and generators. Their members work closely with contractor partners across the state.

Women In Skilled Trades (WIST) was co-founded by Tori Menold and Carol Cool, in the late fall of 2016. Both women were looking for a way to have a positive impact on their community, empower women, and help the industry that they have worked in for their entire careers. By combining their passion for helping women and their knowledge of the construction industry, Women In Skilled Trades was formed. WIST is working to develop programs and events to help educate and inform women about the exciting and fulfilling career opportunities in the construction skilled trades. By exposing more women to the exciting opportunities in the skilled trades, they are hoping to help fill that labor gap AND promote the lives of women in our community.

About the Fair

Connections2Careers is pleased to offer the Construction Career Awareness Fair, a tabletop tradeshow on the 4th floor of Owosso Masonic Lodge #81. Students, teachers, parents, and others in the Shiawassee County area are invited to attend to learn more about the construction trades; what are they, how to enter them and general knowledge about them.

This two-day event will take place Friday, February 25th from 3 – 9 p.m. and Saturday the 26th from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. We will also be participating in this year’s Owosso Chocolate Walk on Friday, 5 – 8 p.m. The fair is free for all attendees and open to the public.

This event is supported by Owosso Lodge #81, the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership, and the Shiawassee Family YMCA.
